Description of PHOTOGEM® Photosensitizer
PHOTOGEM®
is the unique photodynamic drug therapy (PDT) of malignant
tumours;
does not yield to its analogues in therapeutic activity;
production based on a unique original technology protected by
Russia's patents. Our "know-how" allows to simplify
the production of the preparation and significantly bring down
its cost price;
has ability to selectively accumulate and remain in malignant
tumours, and under lighting of the activating wavelength to
turn into an upper state. Then it either fluoresces in red
(spectrum), or initiates photo-toxic reactions in a growth
tissue. The above characteristics allow to use PHOTOGEM® both
for the diagnostic of a tumour and for its elimination;
In clinical oncology the PHOTOGEM® PDT courses of radical
treatment are indicated in the following cases:
-
obligate pre-cancer states (III stage dysplasia);
-
pre-invasive and early-stage invasive cancer (Tis,
T1N0M0);
-
post-radiotherapy residual tumour;
-
post-surgical early-stage cancer relapse (and second
metachronic cancer).
The PHOTOGEM® PDT courses of palliative treatment are
indicated in the following cases:
-
constrictive forms of a cancer of bronchus, oesophagus
and colon (large intestine);
-
non-resectable, resistant to chemo-radiotherapy III-IV
stages malignant tumours;
-
intracutaneous (endermic) sarcoma, lactic Ferri lactas
cancer metastasises.
Localization of tumours: skin, top respiratory tract,
trachea, bronchus, oral cavity, esophagus, stomach, rectum and
colon, urinary bladder, vagina, cervix of the uterus,
endometritis and other tumours accessible for direct or
endoscopic laser illumination.
If a residual tumour is detected after the first PDT
course, repeated injection of the drug is possible, sessions
of PHOTOGEM® PDT treatment should be carried out at a 1 month
interval. Because of the low dark toxicity of PHOTOGEM®, PDT
treatments are compatible with the surgery, chemo- and
radiotherapy.
